If you’re flying in one of United or Delta’s premium cabins this summer, you’d better go ahead and clear some space in your bathroom cabin for their sleek new amenity kits. United has partnered with English cosmetics brand Cowshed to fill its new brown leather (or leather-ish) kits with organic skincare products (and a not-at-all pretentious sounding Jasmine Toning Eye Balm), while Delta has updated its own TUMI-branded kits with MALIN+GOETZ products and a sweet looking pair of striped socks.
United’s new Cowshed products are the in-house brand of the Soho House chain of hotels and private membership clubs, and as the company excitedly pointed out in its press release, were described as a “super-stylish beauty brand” by Cosmopolitan UK. The new kits will be available in United Global First and United BusinessFirst during long-haul international flights and passengers will be able to get their mouths all over the Lippy Cow Natural Lip Balm and their well-manicured hands on the Quinoa Hydrating Daily Moisturizer starting on August 1. Some additional Cowshed products will be available in select United Clubs and United Global First lounges, as well. Tom O’Toole, United’s senior vice president and chief marketing officer, said:
Soho House’s Cowshed skin-care products – which received very positive feedback from customers and flight attendants – will be a fresh addition to the products and services we offer premium-cabin customers on United Airlines. This is another step in enhancing our customers’ experience in flight and on the ground.
Meanwhile, Delta is going the collectable route, offering both hard and soft-sided TUMI cases that will be alternated on outbound and returning flights so that well-heeled passengers can score both of them. The updated kits will also include those socks, a TUMI-logo pen (yay!) and moisturizer and lotions from New York’s MALIN+GOETZ apothecary. Delta has also added a toothbrush and mouthwash to the sleep kits that are handed out to Delta Comfort passengers. The carrier’s new amenities will be available in late July, so there’s a good chance that I’ll be wearing those socks until Christmas.
