Catering to its inner hipster, United Airlines just announced it will continue and expand its partnership with craft beer company Goose Island. As part of in-flight happy hour, the airline serves the brand’s 312 Urban Wheat Ale, and this month it will add another of the Chicago brewery’s ales, Goose IPA. Eventually the new IPA will come to replace the former, which has been served on flights since last year. Most importantly, on April 15 United will offer free beer on seven domestic flights leaving Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport to induct the new beer, but United hasn’t disclosed just how much free booze you’ll get.
United isn’t the only carrier hopping on the craft beer bandwagon, though, as airlines have been expanding their selections since late last year. Here’s a rundown of what carriers are serving your good brews at 35,000 feet:
- Virgin America: 21st Amendment Brewery’s Back in Black IPA; Anchor Steam from Anchor Brewing (San Francisco)
- JetBlue: Brooklyn Brewery Lager (New York), Harpoon Brewery’s UFO White (Boston)
- Frontier Airlines: Fat Tire Amber Ale (Colorado); Dale’s Pale Ale from Oskar Blues Brewery (Colorado and N Carolina)
- Southwest Airlines: Fat Tire (Colorado); Leinenkugel’s Seasonal Summer Shandy (Wisconsin)
- United Airlines: Goose Island Beer Company’s 312 Urban Wheat Ale (Illinois)
- Hawaiian Air: Maui Brewing Company’s Bikini Blonde Lager
- Sun County Airlines: Three brews from Minneapolis-based brewery Surly including Bender, the Furious IPA, and Hell.
- Delta: With a robust craft beer selection, the airline recently added seven selections to its menu including SeaWater Brewery (Atlanta), Blue Point Brewing Company (Long Island), and Ballast Point Brewing Company (San Diego).
- Alaska Airlines: Saint Archer Brewing Company’s White Ale (San Diego)
- Spirit Airlines: Just kidding, guys. Just kidding.
